MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS, INC. THE EXPERTS IN ENERGY AUDITING AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT.
JP Morgan Chase
This is a 51,000 square foot JP Morgan Chase office building. MSI performed an energy audit and provided engineering for mechanical and control system upgrades. New VAV boxes were installed, new hard pipe duct runs replaced long flex runs and new hot water pipe insulation was installed. A state of the art Distech building management system was installed to replace the old pneumatic controls. MSI did all the Xcel Energy rebate applications and obtained approximately $30,000 in rebates from Xcel Energy for the upgrades performed. This money was paid directly to JP Morgan Chase to help offset the cost of the project.
Bank Of The West
This is a 36,000 square foot Bank Of The West office building. MSI preformed an energy audit and provided engineering for mechanical and control system upgrades. Natural gas was brought to the building and the old cooling only roof top units were replaced with new VAV heating/cooling roof top units with modulating gas heat and variable frequency drives on the supply fans. The existing moduline diffusers were replaced with new VAV boxes and new supply air diffusers to make the building a true VAV system. A state of the art Distech building automation system was installed to replace the building controls. MSI did all the Xcel Energy rebate applications and obtained approximately $19,000 in rebates from Xcel Energy for the upgrades performed. This money was paid directly to Bank Of The West to help offset the cost of the project.
Gilpin County Justice Center
The Gilpin County Justice Center project required the complete replacement of the HVAC and control systems in an occupied facility (the jail section is occupied 24/7). The existing RTUs were replaced with AHUs utilizing hot and chilled water for heating and cooling the building. A new high efficiency boiler system and air cooled chiller system were installed as well as a new building control system to achieve the pay-from-savings project requirements.
MSI has done numerous energy enhancement projects at the NREL laboratory. These have included energy recovery retrofits, ventilation improvement projects, air distribution improvement projects as well as laboratory exhaust upgrades.
The Montbello Library project was the first commercial application of the Coolerado evaporative cooling technology. This technology allows heat to be exchanged from one airstream to another using evaporative cooling while using a special membrane to inhibit the migration of humidity between the airstreams. These units were installed on the outdoor air intake to the building’s AHU to precool the air used to ventilate and cool the Library. This process reduced the mechanical cooling requirement considerably generating significant savings.
Julesburg High School
Julesburg High School was retrofitted with a ground source heat pump system and state of the art Bacnet DDC system by MSI. The system uses ground water to provide both heating and cooling for the school. In winter, heat pumps use heat from the water to warm the air supplied to the building and in summer the heat pumps reverse their cycle and remove heat from the air in the building and exchange it to the ground water. The system costs are paid for from the energy savings.
